Things I've been noticing lately. . . . . . . . . .

Outside of me:
Bombs, missiles, distress, segregation, apartheid, disagreements, disturbance.
Tension. Like a badly strung guitar, the steel, nickel and bronze fraying at the edges, visual reminders of holding on by the slimmest of threads.
Chronic dis-harmony. An ostinato; the consistent low hum of dis-ease.
Inside of me:
That it’s feeling harder to walk through the world in an open-hearted way. The concrete that once surrounded my ribcage threatening to rebuild.
That the pull for some kind of knowing, or control feels more present than usual.
Those (once well known) old, internal patterns straining to centre themselves again, deep in tissue and cells.
Within you:
If you’re seeing, hearing, knowing, feeling, sensing any of the above, you’re not alone.
You aren’t ill.
There’s nothing ‘wrong with you.’
You are experiencing very natural responses to humanitarian and world issues occurring right now (whether far away or closer to you).
What you can do:
Noticing what’s living for you is an excellent first step.
Allowing and supporting whatever deepens your own sense of alignment, grounding and values is helpful………. Remember this is different for all of us and won’t look the same.
To ignore, repress, push away or try to fix such states can often be futile……. The stuff is still there, whether we turn towards it or not.
Right now, I’ll be continuing to sing, listen to whatever music feels good, doodle, walk in nature, hang out with the dog and enjoying the early signs of spring.
Oh, and those old ‘long gone’ patterns waiting in the wings? They can stay there. When we pay attention, when we notice, when we turn towards, rather than away, then we have choice. And choice, my friends, is everything.
Go easy on yourselves. You’re worth that.
